The Six Studio Services

Brand storytelling run from the Kwun Tong studio

Caimao Culture Media Limited runs campaign decks, press sheets, client reels, brand voice programs, collateral review sittings and launch calendars out of the Chung Mei Centre studio on Hing Yip Street. Each service is a separate desk, and each desk can be booked alone or as part of a full narrative build.

SERVICE ONE

Campaign Deck Bays

A campaign deck for a computer integrated system has to do three jobs at once. It has to explain the architecture without drowning the reader, it has to show the operational gain in language a finance lead will accept, and it has to survive being forwarded to someone who was not in the room. We build these decks in bays rather than a single river of slides. A bay is a self-contained argument: one opening claim, one diagram, one piece of evidence and one consequence.

Each bay is typeset at the studio, reviewed against the source documents and tested with the client before the next bay is written. The result is a deck that a sales lead can open at bay four for an operations buyer and at bay seven for a technical committee, without the story falling apart. We also supply a plain document version of the deck for procurement portals that reject slide files, because that rejection happens more often than clients expect.

Campaign Deck Bays typically run three to five weeks depending on the number of bays and the availability of source material. We ask for one technical owner and one commercial owner from the client side, and we will not begin typesetting until both have signed the bay outline.

SERVICE TWO

Press Sheet Runs

The press sheet is the oldest piece of equipment in the studio, and it still does work that a website cannot. A printed sheet handed across a table signals that the firm is prepared to be held to a claim. We set press sheets for announcements, tender submissions, trade show handouts and annual summaries, and we treat the fold, the margins and the ink coverage as part of the argument rather than decoration.

Each run begins with a text pass and a grid decision, then moves to imposition and a physical proof on the studio proofing table. We check the sheet at arm length, at reading distance and folded, because a sheet that only works flat is a sheet that will embarrass the client at the event. The final delivery includes press ready files, a low ink version for digital circulation and a plain text version for accessibility.

Press Sheet Runs suit firms in professional, scientific and technical services where a serious document matters more than a fast one. Standard runs take two weeks from signed copy to delivered files, and we coordinate directly with the chosen printer when the client prefers it.

SERVICE THREE

Client Reel Desks

A client reel is not a brand film. It is a compact record of a system doing its job in front of the people who rely on it. We script the reel at the desk before a camera is placed, because the script is where most reels fail. The desk process forces every shot to answer a question a buyer would actually ask, and it removes the slow pans across servers that fill so many systems videos.

Reels run between forty five seconds and two minutes. We work with the client site team to capture real operations, then cut at the desk with captions that read correctly with the sound off, since most technical buyers watch on a muted laptop before a meeting. Every reel ships with a silent version, a version with spoken narration and a short loop suitable for a booth screen.

Client Reel Desks handle scripting, direction, edit and captioning. Filming equipment is arranged per project, and we are glad to work alongside an existing production partner if the client already has one on retainer.

SERVICE FOUR

Brand Voice Windows

A brand voice fails not because the words are wrong but because different teams use different words for the same thing. Engineers say integration layer, sales says platform, support says the system, and the buyer hears three products. Brand Voice Windows fix this by drawing the vocabulary out of the engineering reality first and then setting it in a guide that ordinary staff will actually use.

A window runs as a set of short working sessions with engineering, sales, support and, where it exists, the marketing team. Each session produces a small vocabulary table with a preferred term, a forbidden synonym and one example sentence. At the end of the window the tables are assembled into a voice guide that fits on a few pages, plus a set of ready sentences for the channels the firm uses most.

Voice Windows usually run two sessions a week for four weeks. We keep the guide short on purpose. A long voice manual is a manual nobody reads, and an unread manual changes nothing.

SERVICE FIVE

Collateral Review Sittings

A review sitting is a scheduled, paid review of material the client has already produced. We read the deck, the sheet, the reel and the website copy as a single body of work, then mark every claim that cannot be defended in a technical review. Each mark gets a note: the problem, the evidence available and a rewritten line.

The sitting is deliberately uncomfortable. We ask the client to nominate the hardest reader they know, and we argue the material from that reader position. Most sittings end with a list of thirty to eighty edits, ranked by risk. The client keeps the list whether or not they continue to the rewrite stage, which means a review sitting is useful even for firms that want to fix things internally.

Sittings run in a single long session at the studio or on a video call, with a written report delivered within three working days. Rewrites, if requested, are billed as a separate campaign deck or press sheet task.

SERVICE SIX

Launch Calendar Rounds

Integrated systems rarely launch on one day. They arrive in rounds: a pilot with one client, a controlled release to a region, a public announcement and then a slow expansion. Launch Calendar Rounds place the whole narrative on that timeline, with the message for each round written in advance and the dependencies marked.

We build the calendar with the client team over two workshops, then set the copy blocks for each round: the announcement text, the press sheet variant, the reel cut and the internal briefing. Every round has a named owner and a written readiness check, so that a delayed pilot does not force a rushed public message. The calendar is delivered as a plain document that the client can keep updating after the engagement ends.

Rounds work best when booked before the first release, not after. Firms that bring the studio in during the second round usually need a repair of the first, and we will say so plainly at the first sitting.

How the process runs

Every engagement follows the same four movements, whether it involves one service or all six. The movements are fixed so that the client always knows where the work stands, and so that the studio never begins production on an argument that has not been agreed.

  • A

    First sitting

Ninety minutes in the studio or on a call. We read the system, separate the layers and agree which services make sense. No cost, no obligation and a written one page reading afterwards.

  • B

    Scope and acceptance list

A fixed calendar, a named studio lead and a written list of what will be delivered. The list is the contract. If something is not on it, it is a separate conversation with its own cost.

  • C

    Studio production

Decks, sheets, reels and voice guides are produced at the Chung Mei Centre studio, with two review points per artefact and source documents kept alongside the working files.

  • D

    Handover and review sitting

Every file is handed over in an open format, followed by a review sitting sixty days later to check how the material has held up in real rooms.

Who the studio works with

Caimao Culture Media Limited works with firms in computer systems design and related professional, scientific and technical services. That includes systems integrators, engineering consultancies, research platform teams and specialised design practices. We do not work with consumer brands outside this space, not because the work is beneath us but because the studio language is built for technical buyers and would ring false elsewhere.

The studio takes a limited number of engagements each quarter. If you are unsure whether your project fits, write to enquiries@ycidesign.buzz or call +14842766322 and we will tell you honestly.

Start a conversation

The first sitting is free and usually answers more than a proposal document. Bring the system, the rough deck if one exists, and the names of the people who will read the final material. We will bring the outline, the ink stone and a plain opinion.
